Do you think the social world naturally falls into a hierarchy or has society just evolved that way?

Jim Sidanius: a focus on the nature of social-group relationships.

The past two years have been intellectually sad for me personally. January 2022 saw the death of Sam McFarland, a professor at Western Kentucky University. As well as lots of great research on general evilness (and goodness), he was a referee for my last promotion.

Being a referee for me may be a bad thing. Correlation isn’t causation, but Sam’s passing followed that of my intellectual grandfather (also a referee for my promotion), Jim Sidanius, in 2021. I’d better warn the other folk who wrote on my behalf in case this becomes a pattern.
