WHEN Mark Robins was sacked by chairman Doug King just over a year ago, it came as a shock to us Coventry City fans.

After all, it was Robins who had skilfully guided the Sky Blues through troubled times, overseeing the rise from League Two to the brink of the Premier League.

To be honest, when Frank Lampard was named as his successor, there was a mixed response from supporters.

As a long time fan, I reserved judgement as I'm a firm believer in giving managers a chance. However, I confess at the time I thought 'can Frank Lampard be the answer?'. I had my doubts.

Fast forward a year and it's safe to say the former Chelsea and England midfielder has won over all the sceptics.

As I write, the Sky Blues are top of the Championship, having lost just once in 17 games. They've scored a whopping 47 goals, conceded 17, which included seven clean sheets, and built up a ten-point lead.

Brandon Thomas-Asante is the joint top scorer in the division with ten strikes and the entertainment value has gone through the roof.
