AC/DC

Classic Rock

|

October 2025

Making their sole UK appearance in 2025, AC/DC prove that despite the changes and the passing years, they're still better than anyone else.

- Polly Glass

AC/DC have been in my life since I can remember. They featured heavily in the soundtrack of my childhood. Since then they've been my go-to happy place, rock'n'roll comfort food and a powerful confidence boost whenever I need it. It's still the name I always mention, instinctively, when asked what my favourite bands are. And yet, due to a combination of age, life events and unfortunate timing, I've never actually seen them live. Until today.

Murrayfield is a sea of 'DC. Tour T-shirts from all generations. Flashing red devil horns, worn by fans old, young, middle-aged, male, female. Kids in their first tour T-shirts. Your average rock gig Men With Beer crowd, but also mumsy women with prosecco, cheerfully pissed 20-something girls, Instagrammers posing in fresh merch.

You almost forget that there's a support band on first.

No disrespect whatsoever to The Pretty Reckless, but absolutely no one is here for them. It could be literally any band that's not AC/DC and the same would be true.

That said, they put on a fittingly strong show, slick but with a proper set of teeth, tasty guitar solos and stylish heft. "It feels so good to be here with the one and only AC/DC!" Taylor Momsen knows her audience, fair play. Cue roaring cheers.

Preliminary waves of an approaching storm.

Already it's exciting.

It has, of course, occurred to me that it might not be good. That I might be too late for a quality AC/DC gig. Malcolm is no more.

Everyone is much older. Angus has the pallor of a Game Of Thrones White Walker. Back In Black-era Brian this is not. Hell, it's not Black Ice-era Brian either. I cross my fingers and pray silently.
