AS WITH ALL purveyors of luxury, the need to be accessible isn’t high on the agenda of perfume house Amaffi. “We are exclusive. We are not for everyone,” proclaims the company that makes some of the world’s most decadent scents.

As mysterious as its enchanting elixirs, the brand’s provenance dates back some seven years ago in Switzerland, under the hand of Madame Amaffi– allegedly, the descendent of a perfumer who once created Napoleon’s signature scent.
