Krishna (Spring in Kulu)

The Russian painter, writer, philosopher and public intellectual Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947) was one of those rare individuals for whom the often-misused word 'polymath' truly applied—his interests in and mastery over wildly disparate parts of the human experience was undeniable.

Though he lived all around the world, Roerich spent a significant portion of the last two decades of his life across various parts of Asia, including India. He died in Naggar, in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district and once the capital of the ancient Kullu kingdom.
