While we all love to travel there's no denying it can be a little stressful—so we've asked the experts for their favourite tips and tricks to help you enjoy a more mindful trip

HACK YOUR holidays!

There's nothing like listening to the gentle lap of the waves and feeling the warm golden sand beneath your toes ☐ as you relax on a well-earned break. But sadly, the reality doesn't always live up to the daydream. 'Whether you're racing through airport security, stuck in traffic on the way to a weekend retreat, or adjusting to a new time zone, travel can be both energising and overwhelming,' says holistic health and wellbeing practitioner and author Nicci Roscoe. To help you let go of the worry and embrace the wonder, follow our helpful tips and tricks to make this a holiday to remember - for all the right reasons.

First, it's important to set the tone about your expectations for your holiday, says expert Claire Fitzsimmons. 'Anticipating how we might feel on holiday might be the last question on our list of travel prep, along with "where's the passport?" and "have I booked travel insurance?" she says, 'but what if we started there?

'Our holidays are often all about our longings to feel something: maybe it's calm and peace after weeks of frantic work or excitement and anticipation after a time of quiet boredom.

'There will be something you are longing to feel more or less of, and often we're not even aware of that until we give ourselves the opportunity to check-in with ourselves.

'When you create an awareness of the feelings you want to welcome in on holiday, you'll shape your holiday experience differently. Bringing this question with you, "How do I want to feel today", will also help take away that sense of disconnect we sometimes have on holiday when something is a bit off and we're not quite sure what.

HARMONY at home

We spend weeks preparing our homes for Christmas...but does anyone prepare for when it's over? You know the feeling: the decorations have come down, the mince pies have been eaten, but your home doesn't feel like it's supporting you into the new year. I believe this is because our homes hold energetic residue.

MOVING FROM GUILT TO GRACE

How many times a day do you hear yourself saying sorry? ‘Sorry, could I just…?’ ‘Sorry, I can’t make it tonight.’ ‘Sorry, I’m not free.’ We apologise for taking up space, for saying no, for changing our minds, even for wanting something different. Sometimes it just slips out before you’ve even had time to check if it belongs there.
