GOODBYE, TINA BETTER THAN ALL THE REST!

Tina Turner, 1939 - 2023

Following a “long illness”, Tina Turner died aged 83 at her Swiss home on May 24. The singer had always been open about her health battles, but her passing still came as a shock to fans who identified with her powerful voice and rags-to-riches story.

Raised in poverty, made to pick cotton as a young child, abandoned by her mother when she was just 11 and beaten during her first marriage, there’s no question Tina conquered so many obstacles on her path to greatness.

Born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, Tina got her start with Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythm in 1957. It was after they fell in love and he changed her name to form the musical duo, Ike and Tina, that she found fame, first with ‘A Fool In Love’ in 1960.
