Tasty and trustworthy

ATERRIFYING statistic I heard recently is that there are more food banks in this country than McDonald’s,’ says S. J. Hunt, CEO of the Country Food Trust (CFT).

Indeed, recent reports have the number of food banks at some 2,500—more than 1,000 more than the number of restaurants belonging to Ronald McDonald. With winter closing in, they are likely to be under more stress than ever. The CFT says that demand has risen by 100%, with donations dropping by 68%, as the cost-of-living crisis bites.
