A uniform approach
Country Life UK
|March 19, 2025
You’re approaching retirement and no longer have to dress in your work wardrobe each day–so what do you wear? A uniform of your own design

For gentlemen of a certain age— and here I’m talking about anyone over the age of 40—getting dressed in the morning becomes increasingly difficult. Having experimented when they were younger and then having spent 20-odd years wearing some kind of office uniform, when they hit the time of the mid-life crisis the inclination for some men is to try to look young. They might decide to flirt with skinny jeans, invest in some jazzy shirts or, worst of all, experiment with facial hair. They will look ridiculous, their friends will laugh at them behind their back and small children will probably throw things at them in the street, but nothing can be done. At the age of 40, men still think they are immortal and that dressing like a teenager will stave off death. Possibly forever. Heigh-ho. Alternatively, they could start dressing their age and join a gym, but they’ll never listen.
