Outsmart SHRINKFLATION

If your usual cereal box or juice bottle seems to empty quicker than before - despite the price staying the same - you've likely encountered shrinkflation. This sneaky form of inflation happens when products shrink in size or quantity while their prices remain unchanged, leaving shoppers with less for their money.

Shrinkflation isn't new but, in recent years, it's become more widespread as manufacturers grapple with the rising costs of ingredients, packaging and transport. Rather than increasing prices outright, companies quietly reduce product sizes, hoping consumers won't notice. As financial analyst Priya Naidu told The Guardian: “Manufacturers know that price hikes grab attention, whereas subtle size reductions often go unnoticed.”

For families already stretching tight budgets, shrinkflation can feel like a hidden blow. You pay the same at the till, but your shopping doesn't last as long - squeezing your grocery budget even further.
