A vibrant home filled with a mix and match of finds and modern furnishings is a reflection of the owners' passion for unique aesthetics

CANDY CRUSH

In a quiet corner of Bandhagen, a small neighborhood on the outskirts of Stockholm, lives Cissi Ahlen with her partner, their nine-year-old son, and a home bursting with personality and vibrant colour. The house - a 1957 villa that had seen better days when they first encountered it - is a testament to transformation, creativity, and the unspoken connection between space and the people who inhabit it.

"We had seen the house for sale online but weren't that impressed," Cissi admits. "It wasn't until one morning, on a walk to the park, that we passed by it again and saw the potential. That's when it clicked." What they discovered was a house with history, character and a location that held promise: perched on a hill, offering a peaceful view over the surrounding area. The home, though partly renovated in the '70s, had a lived-in feel - one that reminded Cissi and her family of their grandparents' homes. "The first time we entered, it had that older vibe," she recalls. "But we knew with a little love and imagination, we could turn it into something that was uniquely ours." Cissi and her partner began their journey of redesigning a space that would perfectly capture the eclectic spirit of their family's lifestyle.

The villa, with its 124sqm living space and additional 44sqm of garage and storage, was partly built into the hill, creating an intriguing layout.
