I'M GUESSING you've never been in a position to ask your colleagues if they'd like to taste-test loads and loads of wine. I'm sorry about that, because, let me tell you, my popularity around the office skyrocketed when I rallied my cube mates to drink their way through some wine clubs for this issue.
If you're not familiar, wine clubs are like book clubs. Only instead of getting together with people to talk about a buzzy new novel while drinking wine, you just get the wine-a box of it, sent to your home every month, every other month, quarterly, or whatever. And you don't have to gather others, though I do recommend it. (So, on second thought, not like book clubs at all.)
While there are plenty of reasons to join a wine club-convenience! exploration! savings! a constant stream of bottles!-the draw is really the curation, whether by humans or an algorithm. Each shipment contains a highly personalized selection based on your likes and dislikes. These clubs learn how to shop for you, potentially better than you can for yourself-something you might appreciate if you've ever bought a dud of your favorite varietal.
But with so many wine clubs out there, how do you know which one to join? That's where my coworkers and I come in! As a service to you, we set out to find the best. We got to work clicking and sipping and debating, and we learned that "the best” all depends on what you want and how you want it. A few nailed the various things we were looking for.
