Perched on the 64th floor, this 1,400 sq ft multi-generational Mumbai residence effortlessly combines the warmth of a family home with the tropical allure of an island retreat. “Home to a large hospitable family, crafting a cohesive interior scheme that reflected their personalities proved challenging,” designers Sameer Balvally and Shilpa Jain Balvally explain.
The designers have crafted a resort-style sanctuary in the living room through generously proportioned couches, blush pink statement armchairs, potted ferns, bamboo pendants, and dappled light filtering through sheer curtains. On the far end, set against a pastel-toned botanical wallpaper, is a cosy dining nook.
Sipping cocktails and leisurely lounging are no longer exclusive to beachside vacations, with the transformation of the living-dining room that embraces its “tropical chic” status. Studio Osmosis has emphasised linking spaces through materials and textures, wherever possible, resulting in a unified interior. Textured walls, mirrors, fluted panels, and botanical-themed wallpapers form a neutral canvas on which furniture, art, and artefacts are layered.
