This Georgian family home in Dublin has been beautifully and practically renovated to modernize and simplify where possible to meet the needs of modern family living.

This stunning Georgian home in Dublin which dates back to 1830 has been renovated by experienced interior architect and designer Maria Fenlon. This sizeable 2,900sq. ft home didn't need to be extended for the homeowners' needs but the interior did need reconfigured and modernized to transform it into an elegant and functional family home.
"The property is in a conservation area and was in good condition with many elegant original features such as windows and fireplaces,' says Maria. 'Very little structural work was required and any that took place was predominantly in the basement of the house where the kitchen, dining, and everyday living is located,' she explains. 'Here we replaced the existing roof light and windows with new modern fittings. There was also a set of double doors that led out to the garden and we replaced these with new, contemporary sliding doors that maximize the connection between the interior and exterior.
'With this being the basement area of the home the ceilings are lower than the rooms upstairs and we needed to make sure it felt spacious, bright, and comfortable,' adds Maria who opted for a light, neutral colour scheme here and throughout the rest of the home.
