Details of the Sea Floor Emerge from the Deep

As I reported in August, less than 0.001% of the deep sea floor has been seen by direct visual observation, either by human eyes or cameras in research submersibles.

One group, the Ocean Discovery League, hopes to chart 10,000 deep-sea dives to provide a broader picture of our big, broad seafloor. But now there's another team in town with another tool that’s allowing us to see even finer details down deep.
