Q. David Bowers

Q David Bowers is perhaps the best known and most noteworthy numismatist of the past 60 years. Beginning in 1953, Bowers' contributions to numismatics have continued uninterrupted and unabated to the present day. He is cofounder of Stack's Bowers Galleries in New York and New Hampshire, and is numismatic director of Whitman Publishing, LLC.

Bowers is a recipient of the Pennsylvania State University's Distinguished Alumnus Award (1976). His work with rare coins is so voluminous and extraordinary that he was named by COINage in 1999 as one of the "Numismatists of the Century," one of only six living individuals to receive this honor in that year.
