BLESS MY OWN HEART: THE ART OF EMOTIONAL COMPLETION
Live Love and Eat
|November 2025
I recently had a session with my life coach where she said something that stopped me in my tracks:“I sense a lot of incomplete emotional cycles in you.
” That phrase landed like a small earthquake. Was that true for me? And if it was, what did it actually mean?
We'd been talking about a recent heartbreak — one of those relationships that felt full of promise, the kind you start to picture a future around, only to have it suddenly end. That breakup opened the door to other conversations about past heartaches and patterns.
My coach gently suggested that perhaps those old emotions hadn't fully completed their cycles — that some of them were still living inside me, waiting to be felt, expressed, and released.
That hit hard.
I've learned that emotions are meant to move through us — like waves that rise, crest, and eventually settle. But many of us, me included, tend to interrupt that process. We suppress, avoid, or try to rationalize our feelings before they've had a chance to complete. The energy gets stuck. It doesn’t disappear; it hides quietly until a stressful day, a memory, a careless comment wakes it up again. My coach reminded me that completing a cycle doesn’t mean you'll never feel that emotion again. We're human. What matters is learning how to move through those feelings rather than getting trapped inside them. Sometimes it takes many small cycles to reach closure.
In my own process, I noticed I'd moved from constant sadness into a stage of pure anger. Sometimes it felt like rage coursing through my veins — a hot, restless energy. I told my coach it often felt like a lot of “f*** you” energy that wanted to escape my body. It wasn’t about hating anyone; it was about needing to release the pressure inside me.
