HC asks CCSEA to inspect Palamur Bio

THE Delhi High Court (HC) has asked the Committee for Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA) to conduct an inspection along with the representatives of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals India (PETA India) and submit a status report within four weeks regarding the animal experiments and related issues in Telangana-based Palamur Biosciences.
The Court also restrained the company from procuring or housing any new animals at its facility till the exercise is conducted.
The order was issued in connection with a petition filed by PETA India against CCSEA and Palamur Biosciences, alleging failure on the part of the Committee to address the alleged systematic failure and blatant violations of animal rights and also regulatory non-compliances at the hands of the company.
