Growing up in a family deeply involved in politics and social service, how did the environment in your household shape your personal and professional values?

My late father, Sh. Balramji Das Tandon, was a freedom fighter and one of the founder members of the Jan Sangh, which later became the BJP. As a child, I remember that my father was rarely home because he was fully committed to serving the people. My mother would often tell us about his efforts to reach out to those in need. When he was jailed for 19 months, my mother supported him steadfastly. Despite what people said, she always believed that he would return safely, and he did.

What are some of the most important lessons you learned from your father, Sh. Balramji Dass Tandon?

Papa always emphasized that service to society is our primary duty. He instilled in me the values of love for the country, patriotism, hard work, humility, dedication, and devotion. He was always humble and very upright. I learned a great deal from him, as he was always led by example.
