From hyper-personalised beauty solutions to breakthrough product development, this is how India's burgeoning beauty industry is getting future-ready, finds Shweta Vepa Vyas

As someone who has covered beauty for the bet-ter part of two decades, I've graduated from navigating beauty aisles to toggling between the tabs of my favourite beauty platforms. From a handful of choices in the mid-2000s to multiple-step rou-tines for skin, hair and makeup, we've come a long way. The sheer number of products (not to mention information) can be intimidating, even for a seasoned beauty insider. However, modern problems require modern solutions, and that's exactly where AI and technology come in. AI aims to eliminate the guesswork from beauty, offering seamless, personalised, and innovative experiences. At the other end of the spectrum, brands are leveraging this powerful tool for product development and innovations, ushering in the next beauty revolution.
DIAL AI FOR PERSONALISED BEAUTY
The e-commerce beauty era also brought with it a whole lot of trial-and-error shopping. This is now changing thanks to innovative AI-powered tools. At Tata CLiQ Palette stores, the Magic Mirror tool combines augmented reality (AR) with AI to deliver a bespoke shopping experience. The device features a 'Palette Match Finder' that allows beauty enthusiasts to virtually try on makeup. Additionally, there's a 'Skin Analyser' feature that gathers details such as gender, age, and skin type and scans consumers' faces to provide a detailed analysis of their skin health. “By using these tools, we are able to offer personalised products tailored to specific concerns and needs. These innovations create seamless and engaging experiences, enabling customers to explore, experiment, and confidently select products that meet their needs,” shares Gopal Asthana, CEO, Tata CLiQ.
