HIGHLIGHTS FROM THR INDIA STREAMING ACTORS' ROUNDTABLE – FEATURING THE FINEST ACTORS ON STREAMING PLATFORMS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY
NAVIGATING BAD ADVICE IN THE INDUSTRY
ZAHAN KAPOOR: A lot of people told me, 'Don't lose this time.' And 'jaldi se apna PR kara do' (get your public relations sorted fast). Those were some of the first few pieces of advice that I got. Thankfully, I didn't do either of those things.
I managed to understand that it's the other person sharing their sense of insecurity and fear.
HUMA QURESHI: The worst advice I ever got was from a lot of people around 2019 saying, 'Don't do OTT because people will think you don't have a film.' I just want to say, look where we are.
TILLOTAMA SHOME: A casting director told me, 'Don't be a person.' But I am very particular about my food, and I like buying the sabzi (veggies) because it gives me time to think of dinner. I still continue to buy my own sabzi.
IN AN INDUSTRY grappling with uncertainties, noise and almost saturation, five actors who offered up stellar work in the OTT space this past year gather with The Hollywood Reporter India to discuss what really matters: the work itself.
Huma Qureshi returned for the fourth season of Maharani and played a chilling antagonist in Delhi Crime Season 3. Pratik Gandhi navigated his post-Scam 1992 era with comedy in Madgaon Express and espionage in Saare Jahan Se Accha. Zahan Kapoor made a smashing streaming debut in Black Warrant, a show that had no platform when they began shooting. Tillotama Shome entered Paatal Lok's second season with a performance that required learning Nagamese and redefining what a female cop looks like on screen. And
Amit Sial transformed his career trajectory with The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case, proving he's far more than the villains he's been typecast as.
