Nabhaan Rizwan and Aimee Lou Wood share a passion for movies in a quirky romcom

Thanks to her Emmy-nominated performance as empathic – but ultimately ill-fated – tourist Chelsea in the last run of The White Lotus, Aimee Lou Wood has firmly cemented her status as a talent to watch.

Now, she is tackling a very different role as a vulnerable movie buff in BBC3’s bittersweet romantic comedy drama Film Club, which she has co-created with her friend, actor Ralph Davis (House of the Dragon).

‘We wanted to bring back the romcoms of yesteryear,’ explains Wood, 31. ‘Characters like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally… or Holly Hunter in Broadcast News. We wanted to bring back that nostalgia and show nerds and neurotic, messy people falling in love.’
