Idris Elba has just 18 minutes to decide the future of humanity when he plays the US President in Netflix's nerve-shredding real-time political thriller A House of Dynamite about a nuclear missile launched at America.

Helmed by Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow, the film follows those at the top of the US government as they race to find out who's responsible for the attack and how to respond.

With so little time to avert the imminent threat of annihilation, the President is faced with an impossible choice based on limited information, while terror and confusion reign through the corridors of power. But the day starts normally enough.

RAPID RESPONSE
'The first thing on the President's schedule is to meet these schoolkids playing basketball at an arena,' says Luther star Elba, 53. 'Suddenly the President is being dragged out and sprinting to the car – and that's just the beginning.'
