A Secret Worth Sharing
Best of British
|November 2025
It's hard to believe that the 176- room DoubleTree by Hilton Bath was once called "the ugliest building in Bath". However, the hotel – which was built in 1973, during a period of clearance and development known as "the Sack of Bath" - now looks more in keeping with the Unesco World Heritage Site.
-
Overlooking the River Avon, the hotel enjoyed an upgrade five years ago following a sympathetic refurbishment by award-winning architecture and interior design studio ICA. Evoking an age of elegance, the hotel's design offers subtle nods to the city’s Roman and Georgian heritage, while catering for the needs of the modern world.
Close to many of Bath's attractions, such as the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent and Bath Abbey, the hotel has become an attractive destination for locals, visitors and guests alike.
