The Blooming Lesson

Flowers bloomed in almost every home. But Damru Donkey was worried. No flowers had bloomed at his house yet. Ever since he had planted seeds in a pot, he had been waiting eagerly for them to sprout. Sometimes he even slept near the pot in hope. Yet, despite his patience, not a single flower had appeared.

One day, Damru sat sadly outside his house. His friend Cheeku came walking by. Spotting Damru's gloomy face, he stopped.

"What's the matter, Damru? You look upset," asked Cheeku.

"I don't just look upset, I am upset," replied Damru. "Maybe I should paste a sticker on my face saying, 'I am sad."

"Hey, why are you so angry? I just meant to ask. What happened? What's troubling you?"

"The problem is with this flower plant in my pot," Damru mumbled. "It refuses to bloom. I tug at its ears every day, but still nothing. Such a stupid plant! Everyone else has flowers, but I alone sit here flowerless."

Cheeku burst out laughing at Damru's "technique." "How will flowers bloom if you keep pulling at the poor plant? Take care of it instead! Feed it, pamper it ... then see the magic."
