Ground shaking announcements from Donald Trump's White House have become the norm since his arrival in power, but his latest unexpected plan is predicted to send shock waves through the world of cinema. The American president wants to impose 100 per cent tariffs on foreign-made movies in an attempt to bring filmmaking back to US shores.

The move would hit Australia especially hard. Known as “Hollywood Down Under” it’s long been a popular location for foreign film productions, with recent large-scale movies including The Fall Guy, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Thor: Ragnarok.
