Staying Connected

Holly Robinson Peete is still getting used to letting her kids, 26-year-old twins Rodney Jr. and Ryan, Robinson, 21, and Roman, 18, spread their wings and fly.

(Dad is husband Rodney Peete.) "I love them being near me and worry less when they're around," the actress, 59, tells Us. "I have one son who's studying in Japan, and it's a hard thing as a parent to let go. Thank God we have technology." Here, Peete dishes on her pack.

Q: If you could go back to the first day you became a parent and tell yourself one thing, what would it be?

Relax a little more. I was always so uptight, worrying about my kids all the time. Let them learn and [don't] be that snowplow mom trying to push everything out of their way.

Q: Are your children fans of your work?

One of them binged all of 21 Jump Street and thinks it's the coolest thing in the world. The other one thinks Hangin' with Mr. Cooper is funny. But The Proud Family made them [all] freak out. All of a sudden, [my] mom cred went through the roof.

Q: How is RJ [who was diagnosed with autism as a child] doing? Is he still working for the L.A. Dodgers?
