“One thing you have to say about Heidi and Spencer is they’re resilient,” says a source. The pair are trying to parlay their tragedy into a new reality show.

HEIDI MONTAG froze when her husband, Spencer Pratt, told her to start packing up to flee their Pacific Palisades, Calif., home as wildfires headed their way. “My brain actually stopped working because I was so overwhelmed with so many things you can’t replace,” the 38-year-old recalled of fleeing the house she shared with Spencer, 41, and their children, Gun-nar, 7, and 2-year-old Ryker. “So I grabbed my kids’ teddy bears.” As they sat down with GMA Jan. 15, the pair revealed they’d lost everything — their house was not insured — and that the $2.5 million home had been their biggest asset. “We were ‘house poor,’ as they call it,” Heidi explained of life before the fire. “We have a house, and everything else is a hustle, is a grind, so we’re definitely counting every dollar that we make.”

Now they’re hustling more than ever. Post-fire, Spencer — once decried as America’s most-hated celebrity — began posting sometimes irreverent clips about the catastrophe. He blasted haters for speculating his wife was pregnant and urged followers to stream Heidi’s old music in an effort to earn money and provide for their family. A source tells Star that the couple are fielding offers of a new reality show focused on rebuilding their home. “They may have matured since their earlier ‘Speidi’ days,” says a source, “but they’re still total opportunists.”
