GIN-CRAZY King Charles is trapped in a detox nightmare after his cancer diagnosis forced him to boot his beloved booze, according to palace courtiers who say the sudden sobriety is causing the short-fused royal to explode without warning!

Tipsters dish dry and dreary Charles, 75, has never been more difficult to deal with as he suffers from the shakes, vicious mood swings and other physical and mental symptoms of alcohol withdrawal!

"Charles was told by his medical team to quit alcohol. Not even one drink was permitted!" spills an insider.

"For someone who relies on a triple martini right after breakfast to bolster him for the busy day ahead, this was horrendous news."

Spies snitch the longtime tippler also had a habit of wine with lunch, an aperitif before dinner and more vino with his evening meal, followed by a cocktail or two before bed making the beverage ban the hardest part of his health ordeal.

"Charles' wife, Queen Camilla, says, 'He won't slow down and won't do what he's told.' There are whispers he continues to booze, though not as much as he used to," squeals the insider. "It's always helped him get through the stress of his daily schedule.
