REMEMBERING A ROYAL ICON - ONE YEAR AFTER HER DEATH, DESIGNS TO HONOUR HER MEMORY ARE UNDER WAY
'A fitting memorial will be a reminder to generations of her unswerving duty'
As the first anniversary of the death of Elizabeth II approaches, people are being invited to come up with ideas of how best to commemorate her incredible 70 years on the throne.
The world will have the much-loved and respected monarch in their thoughts on Sept. 8, including her own family, who will no doubt be sharing their favourite memories of Her late Majesty at Balmoral during their first summer gathering without her (page 30).
While King Charles spends precious holiday time at the Scottish estate that was so special to his mother, a national committee has been tasked with planning a permanent memorial to the longest-serving monarch in British history.
A MESSAGE FOR THE FUTURE
Dickie Arbiter, her former press secretary, tells Hello! he applauds the idea. “A fitting memorial to the late Queen will be a reminder to generations of her unswerving duty to the U.K., the realm states, the wider Commonwealth and its people.”
