She may be an Oscar-nominated actress with some of Hollywood's most beloved films to her name, but for Canadian leading lady Rachel McAdams, true success is measured in love.

Taking to the podium to receive the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2,833rd star, the radiant A-lister couldn’t hold back her emotions as she thanked the people who helped propel her to where she is today – including the late great Diane Keaton, her costar in the 2005 movie The Family Stone.

“She taught me that no matter how long you've been doing this, you have to leave everything you've got on the table,” Rachel, 47, told the crowd as her longtime partner, screenwriter Jamie Linden, 45, beamed proudly nearby. “Each performance, you must muster up as much love as you possibly can, and then you'll only feel like a dumb-dumb idiot half of the time in life.”

Turning to her parents, Lance and Sandra McAdams, Rachel spoke movingly of her upbringing and their unwavering encouragement as she pursued her acting dreams.

“You only get a few of these moments in life to thank you on this stage for everything,” she said, her eyes filling with tears.
