Malcolm McDowell
Hello! Canada
|February 12, 2024 (Issue 908/909)
The British actor opens up about his childhood days in England, his love of Canada and his newfound fear of turkeys
Hopping on a video chat with Malcolm McDowell is always entertaining – especially when it turns into virtual show-and-tell. “I’m a crazy collector of stuff,” he says as he pans the camera toward a decorative wooden duck. “I got it from a folk-art dealer in London. I rather love it,” he adds proudly.
Born in northern England, the actor has more than 200 credits to his name, including 1971’s A Clockwork Orange. He now resides in California with his wife, Kelley, 57, and their three sons, Beckett, 20, Finnian, 17, and Seamus, 15. And while he loves the Cali lifestyle, he has an affinity for Canada, too. “I’m the greatest fan of Newfoundland,” says Malcolm, 80, who has spent time there filming Son of a Critch, the coming-of-age series inspired by Canadian comedian Mark Critch’s childhood. Here, he shares season 3 details and gets candid about acting and off-screen passions.
