While he was thrilled to mingle with British and Hollywood acting royalty at the BAFTA Awards, a big piece of Prince William's heart was still at home with his wife.

"I'm sorry Catherine's not here," the Prince of Wales, 41, was heard to say as he arrived on the red carpet. "She does love the BAFTAS." Princess Kate's convalescence (she's recovering from major abdominal surgery at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor) meant that the dad of three - who's been president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts since 2010 - wasn't able to see as many of the nominated films as he would have liked.
