FEFE DOBSON
Hello! Canada
|March 02, 2026
The Canadian music star on reinvention, romance and being true to herself
It all started with a karaoke machine. Fefe Dobson's mom saved up to buy it for her in elementary school and the gift "changed my life," she tells Hello! Canada. “It gave me an outlet.” By the time she was in her early teens, Fefe was using it to make demos, which led to a record contract, four studio albums including her breakout debut, with bops like “Take Me Away” and “Bye Bye Boyfriend” - Juno nods and a pop-rock sound that's distinctively hers.
This month, the Ontario native is one of four honourees featured on CBC Gem's The Legacy Lounge, an intimate talk-show series (replacing live event The Legacy Awards) that salutes Black Canadians who've made an impact. Fefe - who turns 41 on Feb. 28 - may now call Nashville home, but Canada is never far from her heart. “Anywhere I go, everywhere I go, I’m proud of being from Canada.” Here, she tells us what she's manifesting for 2026.
