King Charles and Queen Camilla looked delighted to be back at the annual Braemar Royal Highland Gathering as they took in the traditional games, joined by the Princess Royal and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence

Their Majesties were in fine form as they watched the caber toss, tug of war, foot races and Highland dancing at the beloved event, which is just a short drive from Balmoral Castle, where they’ve been enjoying their summer holidays.

Marking his first visit as monarch, Charles, 74, sported a kilt in a brandnew green, blue and red pattern specially designed by the Scottish Tartans Authority to commemorate his coronation.
