Cristiano Ronaldo pops the question to Georgina Rodríguez with a show-stopping 30-carat diamond engagement ring

When it comes to putting a ring on it, Cristiano Ronaldo has surely set the gold standard.

The Portuguese international footballer, 40, proposed to the model Georgina Rodríguez, 31, his partner of nine years, on 11 August in Saudi Arabia, where he plays for the football club Al-Nassr.

Georgina announced the news on Instagram, posting a picture of a 30-carat oval-cut diamond ring said to be worth millions of pounds. Writing in her native Spanish, she said: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”

The couple met in Madrid in early 2016, when Georgina was a sales assistant at Gucci. She had previously studied English in London, as well as pursuing a modelling career.
