POP DIVAS STEAL THE SHOW

Pop divas dominated the MTV Video Music Awards last week, with Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter taking home the biggest honours.

Former actress Sabrina, 26, wearing a red lace Valentino gown with a lilac feather boa, won Best Album for Short n'Sweet, also scooping the awards for Best Pop Artist and Best Visual Effects.

Accepting her album prize at the UBS Arena in New York, Sabrina paid tribute to her fans, as well as the performers who had earlier joined her on stage for a rendition of her hit Tears. "I'm just the luckiest girl in the world," she said. "I do want to say, to my incredible cast and dancers and queens on stage with me tonight: this world can be so full of criticism and discrimination and negativity. To get to be part of something that can bring you light, make you smile, make you dance - I am so grateful.

"So thanks to everyone here, but most importantly, my fans; you've been there for me."
