YOUR heart may be several years — and in some cases, more than a decade — older than the age on your birth certificate, according to a new study from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Researchers hope the new tool will encourage people to make lifestyle changes and seek medical help

Northwestern scientists created a tool based on the American Heart Association’s PREVENT equations that calculates a person’s “heart age” based on their blood pressure, cholesterol levels and if they smoke or have diabetes.
