|March - April 2025
The Restaurant India Conference and Awards has long set the gold standard for the restaurant industry, bringing together visionaries, trailblazers, and decisionmakers to shape the future of dining in India.
In its latest milestone, Restaurant India hosted the first edition of "Tamil Nadu and Kerala', a power-packed event that brought together top restaurateurs, chefs, policy makers, and cloud kitchen brands at The Westin Chennai on February 12.
As Chennai cements its place as India's fourth-largest food service market-with a staggering size of Rs 15.6 thousand crores-the city's culinary landscape is undergoing a massive transformation. In the organized segment, Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs) lead with 38 percent market share, while Cloud Kitchens follow closely at 30 percent, proving that innovation and agility are key to success.
So, what's shaking up Chennai's restaurant scene? Here are 4 trends redefining the market:
1. Multi-Brand Restaurant Formats Are Winning Big
Chennai, a city rich in history and culture, has birthed some of India's most iconic restaurant chains. And now, it's proving that single-format dining is a thing of the past.
"The Indian restaurant space is evolving. No one wants to be boxed into a single format anymoremulti-brand concepts catering to a larger audience are the way forward," shares Shriram Rajendran, Chef and CEO of The Table, which successfully runs multiple brands under a centralized kitchen model.
