The Japanese company behind the Uniball brand and Germany's LAMY are now partners.

On February 28, Japan's Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Ltd., announced the acquisition of Germany's C. Josef Lamy GmbH. Founded in 1887, Mitsubishi Pencil is not the company behind the vehicles of the same name; rather, Mitsubishi Pencil is best known for its "uni" brand of Uniball ballpoint pens, rollerballs, markers, fineliners, and pencils. The C. Josef Lamy corporation, founded in 1930, is the family holding company of fine writing instruments manufacturer LAMY.
The LAMY brand of fine writing instruments has exploded in global popularity over the last decade, and the descendants of founder C. Josef Lamy were actively looking for a strong partner that would allow the brand to expand international sales and develop the brand's digital writing capacity. For its part, Mitsubishi was looking for a respected fine writing instruments brand to add to its portfolio of quality disposable pens and art markers.
