Ghana Approves Second Gas Processing Plant to Avert Energy Crisis

Ghana's government has approved the urgent construction of a second natural gas processing plant to address the country's growing energy needs and mitigate an impending fuel crisis.

Energy Minister John Jinapor announced the decision, emphasizing the crucial role of natural gas in securing a stable and affordable power supply.
Jinapor highlighted the pressing shortfall in Ghana's gas supply, which has necessitated the importation of approximately $700 million worth of liquid fuel to bridge the energy gap.
100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d), while Eni contributes 235 MMscf/d and N-Gas can supply up to 100 MMscf/d. However, despite these sources, Ghana still faces a deficit of around 100 MMscf/d due to increased electricity demand.
