BLACK SEA SECURITY ACT COULD BEGIN WWIII
Indian Economy & Market
|October 2023
The Russia-Ukraine war began with a limited special military operation. It's likely that Putin undertook the operation in order to bring Ukraine to the negotiating table, not to conquer it. Essentially, Putin wanted Ukraine to abandon any plans to join NATO and to pledge neutrality. By the way, people say Putin is a crazy warmonger who just wanted to retake Ukraine and incorporate it into the Russian Federation.

But James Rickards says Ukrainian membership in NATO was always a bright red line for any Russian leader, regardless of who he is. Even Russian "liberals" who might otherwise despise Putin agree that Ukraine must not join NATO. They regard it as a dagger pointed directly at the Russian heartland. August 2021.
World War II began with the conventional weapons of the time (infantry, ships, aircraft, artillery, etc.) but eventually escalated to fire-bombing major cities like Dresden, annihilating entire army groups on the Eastern Front in Europe with millions of dead and the use of atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The same dynamic is playing out in Ukraine, although few Americans are aware of the full details.

By the way, people say Putin is a crazy warmonger who just wanted to retake Ukraine and incorporate it into the Russian Federation. But here’s what most people don’t realize: Ukrainian membership in NATO was always a bright red line for any Russian leader, regardless of who he is. Even Russian “liberals” who might otherwise despise Putin agree that Ukraine must not join NATO. They regard it as a dagger pointed directly at the Russian heartland. That might seem paranoid to some, but Russian history provides ample evidence of Russia’s vulnerability to invasion. The point is, any Russian leader would strongly oppose Ukrainian membership in NATO — not just Putin.

TRADE WAR: CHINA'S WEAPONISATION OF RARE EARTHS
After Beijing announced new restrictions on exporting rare earth minerals and the specialised magnets they make, the world's auto industry warned of shortages that could force factory closures. ket Ind Ind SUPER INTELLIGENCE
“Al has been driving the stock market to record highs, but the market has the look and feel of a super-bubble,” says James Rickards. He feels that “the crash could come anytime and bring the market down by 50% or more. That’s not a reason to short the major stock indices today. The bubble can last longer than anyone expects. If you short the indices, you can lose a lot of money being wrong. But it is advisable to lighten up on equity allocations and increase your allocation to cash in order to avoid the worst damage when the crash does come.”
