Women in Hospitality Serving Up Success
Hotelier India
|March 2025
The hospitality industry is at a defining moment where service excellence and luxury intertwine with a deeper commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
A study by Boston Consulting Group revealed that hospitality companies with above-average diversity levels reported 19% higher revenue than their less diverse counterparts, showcasing the impact of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in shaping the industry's future. Industry experts weigh in.
WOW WOMEN
At its core, hospitality is about creating meaningful and joyful experiences for guests. What sets great hotels apart is not just their interiors or design but the people who bring them to life. When employees from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences come together in an inclusive environment, fresh perspectives emerge, leading to innovation and outstanding service delivery.
Research shows that DEI efforts enhance employee morale, boost engagement, drive higher job satisfaction, lower turnover rates, and increase productivity, all while aligning with societal expectations and responsible business practices.Dr Anmol Ahluwalia, Area Director – Operations & General Manager, Taj Mahal, New Delhi, says, "At IHCL, we are actively working towards making hospitality an equitable and accessible career choice, particularly for women. Our goal is for women to constitute 25% of our workforce by 2025, and we have introduced a range of measures to enable this, from second-career opportunities and comprehensive training programmes to extended maternity leave, creche facilities, and mentorship programmes. 'She Remains the Taj' further champions women's inclusion and empowerment, not only within our workforce but also by supporting women-led businesses and skill-building programmes.”
