For farmers, this hope is not abstract; it is a daily companion. Farming remains one of the toughest jobs on earth, with challenges often beyond a farmer's control: climate change that brings unpredictable weather, droughts, and floods; rising input costs that squeeze profit margins; disease outbreaks and stock theft that threaten livestock and profitability; and, not least, market prices that can shift overnight. These are just some of the difficulties a farmer must manage. It is clear that farmers must be natural optimists, constantly balancing reward and risk with a vision to improve both sustainability and profitability.
