India Allocates $2.2b to CCUS for Next Five Years

India will allocate 200bn rupees ($2.2bn) over the next five years for carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), the government said in its 2026-27 federal budget presented on 1 February.

The funding would support the scaling up of CCUS technologies to reduce production, the carbon intensity of industrial particularly in hard-to-abate sectors, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her budget speech.
