NOT JUST COMPANIES BUT NATIONS - WILL AGI DISRUPT ENOUGH?
DataQuest
|July 2023
Super-intelligence is still 70 years away! Why and how? V Srinivasa Rao (VSR), Chairman & MD, BT&BT, in conversation with Dataquest Editor Sunil Rajguru, unlocks many unseen aspects of AGI.

"Forming perception and creating thoughts with five senses-that's what we do as human beings. We can focus on multiple things. We also have short-term, episodic and long-term memory. We also have the ability to learn many things. We can acquire knowledge. We can learn many languages. Self-reflection and empathy are also human traits. So can, and how much can, machines replicate these aspects?" pondered V Srinivasa Rao, Chairman and MD, BT&BT.
"We have achieved narrow Al which is nowhere near to human intelligence. But in the next 30-to 40 years, machines will get a little near to human capabilities and it will take the next few decades to get to 'singularity' and "super-intelligence," he augured.
He is also the author of 'Lean Digital Thinking-Digitalising Business in a New World Order'. So when he says 'Al is still a long way from replicating human intelligence', it makes for deep rumination.
AI-OUR FRENEMY?
In the DQ 40 years 'Ask me Anything' series, Sunil Rajguru walked with V Srinivasa Rao on many contours of the emerging Al terrain. Rajguru also addressed fears like 'Al will take away our jobs'.
