Q&A: "CFM's footprint in India will expand"

Please update on the CFM International engines operational with various customers in India.

Our customer base as of January 2023 in the region is huge with 300+ aircraft powered by CFM engines. This includes 150+ aircraft with CFM56 and 150+ with LEAP, operated by seven Indian airlines: AirAsia India, Air India, SpiceJet, Vistara, IndiGo, Go First, Akasa Air.

Since entry into service in 2016, the LEAP engine fleet has logged nearly 27 million flight hours, demonstrating a significant improvement in terms of fuel burn, CO2 emissions and noise.

LEAP operators are reporting up to a 20 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions compared to the latest production CFM56 engines, resulting in an average of more than 17 million tons of CO2 emissions reductions.

How many new engines does CFM hope to deliver to Indian customers by the end of the decade?

CFM's footprint in India will keep expanding in the coming years. Currently, CFM has a backlog of 1,500+ LEAP engines in the Indian subcontinent that will support the large and fast-growing domestic market in India.
