The lunar lander Odysseus gracefully powered down recently, marking the end of its remarkable journey.

This historic event marked the first time a US spacecraft touched down on the moon's surface since NASA's Apollo era ended fifty years ago. Despite initially toppling onto its side upon landing on February 22, the resilient 14-foot-tall lander, affectionately nicknamed 'Odie' by its creators at Intuitive Machines in Houston, continued to transmit valuable data and captivating photos back to Earth during its unexpected week-long stay on the lunar surface.

NASA, a primary financier of the mission, eagerly awaits the analysis of the data collected by Odysseus' instruments, which will inform future missions as the space agency prepares to send astronauts back to the moon.
