Doors and windows have some eye-opening technologies
-
Over the last few years, the Indian doors and windows market has witnessed a considerable shift. There’s a rising demand for energy-efficient, low-maintenance, and aesthetically appealing door and window systems, driven by increased awareness of sustainable living and smart urban development. Consumers are now looking beyond functionality — they want products that offer thermal insulation, noise reduction, and smart automation. Additionally, modern architecture has paved the way for larger openings and panoramic designs, which has further accelerated demand for high-performance, customizable fenestration solutions.
Subhendu Ganguly, MD, AluK India: India’s window and door industry is experiencing a clear shift toward premiumisation, slim design, and large glass openings. Homeowners and developers alike are prioritising aesthetic minimalism, larger daylight openings, and smooth hardware operation. There’s also increasing preference for complete systems — not just profiles — with end-users expecting tested, branded solutions that include gaskets, locks, rollers, and drainage mechanisms, all working together to deliver long-term performance.
Parul Mittal, director, Greenlam Industries: The Indian doors and windows industry has evolved significantly in recent years, with growing demand for both functional performance and visual harmony. There has been a noticeable rise in flush doors with pre-finished laminate or veneer surfaces that blend seamlessly with interiors. The trend has shifted towards ready-to-install engineered doors that save time and maintain design consistency. Additionally, there's a growing preference for safety-certified doors in hospitality and healthcare settings, along with increased focus on eco-friendly materials and custom finishes that align with modern lifestyle aspirations.このストーリーは、Construction Week の July 2025 版からのものです。
