Panasonic Life Solutions India's Sri City plant is keyed in with the latest technologies with Industry 4.0 playing out across all aspects
In April this year, Panasonic Life Solutions India opened its new manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. With this facility, the company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation, gets an opportunity to exclusively service customers in the southern region. While the factory has just begun operations, Panasonic Life Solutions India is certain that over time it will expand operations to encompass most of the land it owns. The highly automated unit is spread over 133,584m2 and covers a floor area of 37,025m2. This is also the company's first electrical equipment manufacturing base in southern India and eighth in India followed by facilities in the north and west regions.
Rajesh Nandwa director and business unit head of wiring devices, Panasonic Life Solutions India, says, "What we are keen on propagating is making people aware of the difference between wires & cables and wiring devices. At this plant here, we will manufacture only wiring devices. For long, we have well-established factories in west and north India. This is our first venture in the southern region. The aim is to provide direct employment to at least 600 people in the state."
Essentially, Nandwani says that with Telangana, Hyderabad and Bangalore being large markets for the company for wiring devices, it was time they started manufacturing closer to where the customers are.
